its 5 am and im getting ready to go to the airport, headed to toronto. last nights acoustic show went really well. we had practiced in the hotel room before the show to refresh and added life of bees at the last minute. and low and behold i did not skip it when it came up in the set list and was probably my favorite moment of the night.

the car is waiting, time to move

I am glad the show went so well, what a great start to the new ‘tour’, wish I could have been there!
I am curious though, what makes you decide to skip songs in the list at the last minute?

I think Life of bees has a intense emotion in it. The vocals follow the music in a very speacial way. The first time i heard it, it was like I never knew what was next, if the voice and instruments would go lower or higher, and sometimes.. it was just both at the same time. Its my favorite song on this album.

Glad it went well! That bodes well for more acoustic sets! :) I would LOVE to hear Life of Bees again live! *fingers crossed*

A beautiful evening, thank you. Highlights for me were “Life of Bees,” “My Way Out” which was intense and sweet, and “Love Will Save The Day.” But the vocals were outstandingly clear on every song and I loved the yellow and blue stage lighting which added to the ambience. As you said last night, it was like we were all in your living room, so it was hilarious when you told us to “get out of my living room!” Very intimate show, especially for us, the hardcore fans, at the front. I was suprised in a way that UIB was the first song in an acoustic set, but it worked so well. And thank you for being brave enough to tackle “Life of Bees” even though you were not so sure. It’s magic live! And so were the other 7 songs. Maybe we’ll get to hear “I’m Coming Down” in October? The evening was all I had hoped for and more.

And now you know who the other “Graeme” in your life is. ;-)

I agree with everything Graeme said! Can’t describe how excited we were. It was definatley an experience that is still hard to wrap my head around. Being so close to you and hearing you hit some of those notes was just indescribable. It was so hard to stay sitting during Push, and it just made me even more excited to see you in October so you can dance. It’s going to be hard to wait another month to see you again! Thanks so much for giving us this opportunity
and see you again in October, or as i said last night, See you again TWICE in october. Can’t wait.

Emily.

You guys are so lucky, sounds great! Just read your posts about it on the website too…glad to hear you had such an amazing time and that at least one more person’s friend became a fan last night! :)
(Really, after seeing/hearing David…how could anyone not be?!).

From robyn — August 29, 2007 @ 3:50 pm

so exciting! i’m glad everyone had a great time - it’s great to hear that this “experimental” show turned out so well. I wish I had won the contest too so I could see the performance in Toronto, but not all of us are so lucky.

best wishes - and good luck preparing for Beachfest (and the million things in between)

From Rebecca — August 29, 2007 @ 4:44 pm

I love Life of Bees….It is definitely one of my faves on the album.
Congrats on your show going so well. Nice to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves.
Wish I could win a contest…..

Thanks for updating! It’s really cool to hear about how a show went from your perspective. I’m glad you had fun with “Life of Bees”, it seems that being spontaneous usually works out well for you…

Sounds like the acoustic show went very well, wish i could have been part of it. I would of loved to listen to you sing in your living room!

What a great beginning to the acoustic sets! Wish I could have won tixs for the contest, but I guess I’ll be seeing you soon in Toronto anyways. Glad you tried Life of Bees as it was on my list. Funny in a way how both acoustic and the more full band interpretations of your songs work so well. Not many artists can pull it off. A testament to how well you manage to bring the many elements together: the songs, the lyrics, the band, etc. I’m looking forward to the continuing “experiments”. Thanks again for keeping us so involved with the creative process!

Sooooo lucky, honoured and in awe to be part of the amazing, intimate accoustic show last night at RW! We have worn peaceful perma-smiles all day with all the meaningful memories floating around our minds…such powerful vocals! Thanks to all involved for creating such a unique experience for fans both new and seasoned. We are so thankful to have absorbed the greatest of evenings. Can’t wait to see you in October!

From Stephanie — August 30, 2007 @ 3:03 am

From Maxime — August 30, 2007 @ 9:39 am

I can’t wait to hear Life of Bees live David, since it’s my favorite song off the album. Hope you play it in Montreal.

Man, october can’t come soon enough…

From jocelyne — August 30, 2007 @ 1:50 pm

Wish I could get invited to an intimate acoustic show. Seen many of your shows (have been really spoiled this year) and they have all been fantastic. Will be seeing you again at beachfest and the wine and grape festival too. Will probably see you in October as well. I don’t know how we (your fans) are going to make it through next year because we have had so many opportunities to see you this year. Will you ever have a DVD of one of your concerts? We could watch it when we’re going through withdrawal!

Joce

From Miwa — August 30, 2007 @ 5:23 pm

That’s a great idea your concert DVD!!!!!!
My son will love that. He like your music and like to go your concert, but he is 11years old,so he can’t go. We all will love that!!!
