while we were in vancouver for the RW and Co show, we rehearsed in the hotel and worked on acoustic versions. this is a clip of an idea for an acoustic version of brilliant. just so ive said it, i have no idea if this is anything like what we will record, but i like the riff and the simplicity of it.

Kevin’s keys are hauntingly beautiful, as usual. Nice job.

(I thought I was the only one here that got up this early!)

I always love an acoustic version, and i agree with ‘adelemcalear’… Kev’s keyboarding sounds great! Come to thing of it… is keyboarding a word?

From shannon — August 31, 2007 @ 9:35 am

beautiful!!! The more I hear, the more excited I get for this acoustic album!!!

From Maxime — August 31, 2007 @ 9:42 am

As you said, it’s really simple, and yet, it’s sounds beautiful.

Just wondering David, do you have an idea of when the album will be done (and out)? Like… late 2007 or somewhere in 2008 ?

From Cheryl — August 31, 2007 @ 9:44 am

It’s so different while still capturing the same essence of the original - love it!!! I think the end result will be beautiful. Am very excited to hear the new takes on some other familiar songs :)

so far it sounds beautiful david
and almost…cute.. in a way? can a song sound cute…
and i mean that in a strong way..not in a ” awee how cute” way..
yeah, that really doesn’t make a lot of sense does it.

kevin’s good!
always liked his keyboarding style : )
“is it brilliant where you are, where the lights are low….”

Well, I was up early this morning too, and was listening to “Brilliant” so that’s spooky. The core of this song was always melancholic (for me, anyway) so it’s lovely to hear such an emotive keyboard arrangement in the early stages. It will be exquisite. Thank you.

I’ve always loved the feel of anything acoustic and with the way David’s music moves me I honestly can’t wait for the CD. Should I put that on my Christmas or Mother’s Day list? Thanks for the snippets(tease) as your work unfolds.

AWESOME! i love simple acoustic like it! i dont know who played guitar but he’s very good! Was it Gerry? anyway… Kev’s the best keys player. Nice team ! So I’ll see you guys next October 20th =]

From quietlaughter — August 31, 2007 @ 5:57 pm

I have to agree - it’s haunting and beautiful … I look forward to hearing more! It is like a snapshot, hearing these clips as you post them… like I am looking in a window that turns out to look out over an entirely new world. When you look back on this whole process, it will be interesting to know if you see something else - something you were looking for that you did not know you were searching for :-) at the very least the music tell its own story !
