got up in the middle of the night to start writing out a list of songs. thats the thing that always comes first, the list. im going to spend the next few week looking over lyrics and arrangement ideas before the band comes into town on the 15th to start working. its going to be interesting to  see how it is letting you guys watch some of the sessions. im still not sure how i feel about it. we live in a new world and experimenting with the creative process is such a big part of it. i feel lucky to enjoy how things are changing rather than running from them. its a brave new world. maybe the 17th or 18th of january would be a good time to go live and show you a few things?

im headed to Toronto tomorrow for the early morning song for chum on friday, come down if you can, its really early (but then again its really early to sing)
ps. we raised over a million dollars for kids at tremblant, so thanks to all

Going live is definately brave! But you always seem to thrive on a challenge! :) I cant wait to hear/see how these new songs come together!!! Makes the wait for the new album so much more fun!

I am looking forward to Friday morning. But i think i may need to go to sleep now in order to be bright eyed that morning! Or I could just funnel some coffee! LOL!

That is great news about the million dollars at Tremblant!!!

This is great. I can’t wait to ear your new material.

Shows on january, that would be so wonderful. I though that the next concerts would be on next spring or summer so, this is a very good news.

Have fun all the gang in the new creations ;-)

Wish I could go on Friday but I guess I’ll just tune in to CHUM instead.

Can’t wait to see you live again. Can’t view any of your videos or pictures from work anymore, everything is blocked so it is really hard to keep up with all the new material… Feeling left out of the whole creative process! Maybe you can come to Hamilton in the new year.

Seeing you live on my birthday would be the best thing to do at work! I really feel bad for those who can’t access this site at their work. It has really been a different experience being able to follow the progress and tour. I have enjoyed it very much, and it keeps getting better and better with more and more different new ways to see it all. :o)
We all love how brave you guys are! If you get cold feet just think of the lion in wizard of oz… he had the courage all along!

Wow, over a million! That’s great, all of you who helped contribute to that.
Yes, it WILL be interesting watching those live sessions…will there be any in the evening? (I need FlashPlayer9 on my computer at work and am not allowed to install it myself). Rats.
I can see how it’ll be weird for you guys, letting us watch you work, but you know we are all very supportive of you here! :)

No worries! You know we love you:-) But it doesn’t matter what we think, it’s more important that you love what you’re doing….which we know you do. I love the creative process and I am a fly on the wall….well maybe more like a butterfly:-) “When the water comes rushing down the corridor…do you run away or do you face it like a holiday” (quote by me)…..I’m glad you’re not running away:-)….Love,love XO

The new video player is grea. I can only imagine how frightening it will be to do your first live broadcast. It certainly is a brave new world. Hope all goes well.

i love how instantly everything seems to be happening this time…what with ‘the list’ and recording plans with the band starting so early on - it’s extremely exciting to observe and we are SO lucky to be able to feel part of it, as fans! it’s like a whirlwind of creation…your ambition is so incredibly inspiring!

i think even though you are exposing yourself in a very new way (via giving us access to live sessions), having the familiarity of maintaining most of the same recording habits that you’ve always had will allow you to stay grounded and thus use this new tool to your advantage. i know nothing but good will come of it and am very excited for january (an early birthday present, even!).

anyway good luck with everything and i can’t begin to describe how much i am looking forward to hearing/seeing new stuff! the shows will be missed but this time of wait is inevitable for the creative process to occur…see you friday!

nice to hear about the million raised in tremblant, so worthed for children!

its gonna be nice to hear some stuff before the upcoming album release, it felt a bit strange how songs like life of bees has changed from the rehersals to the album release! its quite interesting to see what the song is and what it becomes. you wrote so many great albums with all the privacy you could get, its all over ;) kidding! nah, i think we’ll be glad just to watch what you want to show. you shouldnt feel no pressure, just go with the flow

I’m feeling major DU withdrawal, but the songs are getting me through exams :D

For sure, great to have raised that amount of money for a super cause.

Hey gals and guys, let’s face it, anything this David Usher does sound frickin awesome, the guy just knows how to deliver music with a great flair and knows how to write and compose music just as well. And to have him in Canada is great!

From shannon — December 14, 2007 @ 3:59 am
