with the US elections coming lets hope something better is on the way

what crazy possibilities the world gives us now. technological revolution, communications revolution, changes the way we can make art. changes who we are. that cycle of write, record, release still exists but so many of the old controls are gone. we get to explore this new space, the new world of music and art without the old walls. its like landing on the moon for the first time. are you going to stay in the ship because it feels safer, or go tearing around, exploring?
i think i like the moon…

the guys come up tuesday to start, i know its soon but all i want to do is get into this record

yes, zen zen, but lets start recording already. the more you make, the more creative things you want to make!

well the arrangements of the record are done and we had a really great week hanging out and playing music. i know i said the 19th but ill have some clips up in the next few days. we worked over arrangements for 12 songs and are ready to go into the studio starting next week when the band comes back up to montreal

before things start theres just the waiting. i can never sleep.
so far things are going really well, long hours and lots of music. we’ve been spending a lot of time working on the 2 new songs, ‘and so we run’ and the newest ‘i am the weapon’. (being overloaded at the holidays apparently allows songs to pour out:)
there is lots of video footage but as im finding out i just have no time to look back at anything never mind upload. i think thats going to have to wait till after we’re done these sessions on sunday night.
some things you never really know till you start working, but look out, i think we have a record on our hands!

this is the first recording, im going to post all through the process of the song, starting next week when the band comes up. a lot will change im sure! (at www.davidusher.com )

sometime this morning ill try to upload the first version of the song. patience is something im terrible at, waiting for lyrics to appear, sometimes you just have to wait. i think most have arrived now, some to change once the soundscape of the band inspires:)
i love being in the new year, its like getting washed clean.

its the 3rd of january, 2008 and im ready to get back to work. over the last week i finished the lyrics of ‘and so we run’. the guys are coming up on the 15th to start the process, can we start already!
i hope to have most of the record finished in the next 4 months. the single will come out in the summer and the cd by sept. does that seem a bit crazy? why not.

its not going to be an acoustic record, probably as close as ive gotten to a rock record in awhile!
