every process is different. and maybe thats why im never tired of it. the songs take shape. the friends you’re working with drink more wine. the songs take shape.we have set up a studio in a small apartment in montreal. simple really these days, a laptop and what you hope are some really good ideas. 12 hours a day and some kind neighbours that have only call the police once when they thought someone was screaming and being attacked next door, its that flavour of record i guess. screaming and singing, sounds the same sometimes. funny to think the first song will be out in 4 months, seems like forever, but its just round the bend…

dear david,

its so interesting, this feeling like we’re all along for the ride with you and the band, and everyone else involved with making the new record. i don’t think we’ve ever had such a window looking in on the recording process. i don’t know if that makes sense. but it makes me feel an even bigger connection between us fans, you, the band, the music. especially the music. often it seems like bands/musicians go into hiding while they’re recording. like everything is a big secret. but its exciting to be able to follow along through your posts/twitters and pictures. maybe there are a few more soundclip teasers to come? its such an exciting time right now, and i’m so glad to be a small tiny part of it…(sorry, this seems really sickenly mushy. maybe cuz its valentines day??…)

Wow, only 4 months, it’ll seem like tomorrow by the time that rolls around. Im really looking forward to this album, as I’m sure many people are. I love hearing about the process and the work that is behind all this. The photos are great too, an inside scope.

Good luck with the rest of recording,

-Naomi

It is fantastic to watch the process evolve and take shape! Feels like we are there drinking wine with you all. I would have loved to see you explaining it all to the cops! That would have been great video footage to post! :P

Screaming, huh? I am intrigued… :)
(Too funny that the police were called).
Can’t believe it’ll only be 4 months until we hear the first single, that’s great news.
Thanks a lot for the pics!

4 months?! Wow, doesn’t seem very far off at all. I couldn’t be more excited for this one, especially if the cops were called!! Should we be expecting a little more rock?

Have to say I’m a little distracted by Kevin’s shirt…for rent, huh? :)

From moistndamp — February 14, 2008 @ 11:37 pm

lol always love to hear from you david. xD
thats good the neighbours would call the police because they think someone was being attacked, not that they cant stand the voice..lol..im just kidding. ;P

if i were your neighbour, i would do nothing but eavesdropping you guys 12 hours a day! hehehe…or maybe i would serve you coffee and cakes. :D oh..but you got the wine already i forgot..haha

you guys seem so concentrated with work. :)
is that both kevin in the pic 2 and 3? shot in the same angle but at different days? :P

i love this part too.

anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day, David. :)

i’m happy to ear that the process of recording is going on.
It’s so cool that your recording in a appartement in MTL.

The creative part when you record is so GREAT FEELING,

Take your time because it’s one of a great and unique momment in a life of someone.

12-hour enjoyable “shifts” @ work consisting of wine, and cops being called on you? This sounds like an interesting process :D On a serious note, I understand how creativity flows out much more easily when you somehow get yourself in the right state of mind/emotion to pour out what you’re craving to create :) Belated Happy Valentines! And…
keep it up ^_^

I guess the sound of your voice will be different in this album. It should not be the same echo between an appartment and a studio…

Interesting

David Usher..in the closet? JUUUUUST KIDDING! LOL. It looks like you’re in there pretty tight…but probably good for the acoustics! XO Thanks for sharing the pics :-). Now, as for the police coming to the door because of the screaming…I would have liked to have seen that conversation!
