Don’t underestimate how important it is. Make something you love. It doesnt always work out but the point is to try. I was listening to Margaret Atwood on CBC and she was talking about if the point of poetry is to be active or passive. She said something one of her old teachers use to say was “is it alive or dead”. You may not always succeed but who cares. We try to make things that are alive. The internet allows us to do things we couldn’t before. Freedom. Thats why i love it.

This is wonderful advise, I’m glad to be able to read your thoughts on a day to day basis. I remember the days when we had to wait for the bio. to come out in a book to find out about our artists and then it was only superficial facts, not always true being written by someone else. The internet is giving all a chance to share multiple thinking patterns and this is grand. Thank you David! Brenda
thanks david…..
thanks for being there
This album is definately more alive to me before it is released than any before it! Margaret Atwood’s teacher would SO give you an A!
And I love the artwork you posted… is that banksy?
Thank you for letting us know you.
I love the new Disco/Lyrics section!!!!
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” — Thoreau.
thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, David. Just wanna mentioned your belief in humanity deeply touches my heart.
I think a lot of people who live in a free society like ours, well a relatively free society that is, often take this freedom for granted. We are very lucky for sure and it is unfortunate that we have had to fight over the years and continue to have to, to maintain this freedom. This is a shame but freedom is worth fighting for if you have to I think.
@David,
Sometimes I wonder if the poetry I write has any value…I think it does or at least I hope it does:-( At times I feel we are on the same page in terms of ideas but you have a better way of organizing your thoughts. You are right about not knowing until you try. If you love doing something…who cares if others don’t get it. You hope they do…but the journey is so much more important. Thanks for giving us your thoughts now and then…it really is encouraging!
Thanks David:-* That’s right. It’s just… It doesn’t matter that world doesn’t believe in you. If you believe in your love and your pure passion, you’ll succeed no matter what. Love makes miracles.
A poet’s words paints the expression of the Self, and that is the most important aspect of our life…..our expression. Whether it be passive or active….both are important junctions of life’s wonders…where we may ponder in it’s essence….it’s vibrancy that reosnates within each….and how unique it is for each!
Thanks for your creative expression, David!
Exellent wisdom! I have always lived by my words and music as truth of my own soul. I believe as an aboriginal that our words hold more power than just a thought as it is physical energy with a special sound to mean different things. When we pray we sing our prayers and we try not to speak about things that have no place in our own lives- Things i have said and written about have come to fruition and so i have noticed the same with other singers..Amywinehouse for example never sings about going to rehab- she sings about denial and cheating on her man- even before it was a problem for her.. now she is caught in her words and may not get out until she focuses on the positive side of life.–just words for thought!
Thankyou David,
I have discoverd you, and your music, and honestly I have found myself. Your music relates to how i view the world. And now I feel as though I am not alone. I have never met or hurd of anyone who veiws things as i do. I’m so happy that i can relate to someone even though it’s through their work. Thank you David, you helped me know myself better and now i am not afraid to be myself:D The world is both a beautiful AND ugly place, but it is up to us how we want to live it. oxoxox thanks
